About Me
Mansi A. (Umbhoray), is a 29-years-old London-based photographer from Mumbai. An Architecture graduate from Rachana Sansad, Mumbai, she earned her MFA in Photography from the University for the Creative Arts, Farnham, UK.
Umbhoray’s work, rooted in her experience as a member of an oppressed caste, challenges the enduring caste discrimination in India—a system that, despite being legally abolished over 70 years ago, continues to thrive-in and have a choke-hold on society. Her evocative screenprinted photographic series sheds light on these complexities, blending personal narratives with broader cultural critiques.
Umbhoray’s work has gained recognition in the UK, with features and exhibitions at Photo Fringe 2024 in Brighton, Books On Photography Bristol 2024, Source Magazine 2024, The Lightbox Gallery in Woking 2024, and the Sydenham Artist Trail 2023 to name a few.
